BIRD FLU ATTACK – PART A
When we think about what happened on September 11 , the facts make us think about terrorism and if, when, and how it could happen again. When we read about outbreaks of H5N1 bird flu virus in birds in the past few years around the world, it leads us to think were facing the beginning of a pandemic, an event that could indiscriminately kill millions of people all over the world. A disease pandemic could have more impact than a terrorist attack or a hurricane and might be comparable in scope to a war. Most influenza experts agree that a pandemic – a deadly global epidemic – of some kind of flu is inevitable. Could terrorists use the highly pathogenic H5N1 bird flu virus as a bioterrorist agent? Everyone in the world is talking about Bird Flu, but most scientists, doctors and politicians in the United States dont want to talk about this matter. There is an economic issue.
